This is the third project we have done with Sandow Birk--Long Beach-based painter who riffs off of historical themes in his amazing work. The print is four by five feet, printed on gampi in nine panels from direct gravure plates on copper. The panels are joined and seamed, backed with sekishu kozo twice and then dried on boards in the method of Japanese traditional scroll mounting.
The prints were released in an edition of 25 and nearly all sold out as of now. We co-published the print with Catharine Clark Gallery in SF.
Pictured here are assistants Robin Milliken and Courtney Sennish working on the prints.

New Studio at 931 Treat Avenue
September first marked the first year anniversary of moving into a new location in the heart of San Francisco's Mission District. 931 Treat is a 1400 square-foot facility where we are now set up for etching, photogravure, silkscreen, and letterpress.
2012 saw the publication of Sandow Birk's Monument to the Constitution, (pictured above, in progress), a major direct gravure etching in nine panels on handmade Japanese paper.
Workshops and exhibitions will be coming soon.
