New Studio at 931 Treat Avenue

September first marked the first year anniversary of moving into a new location in the heart of San Francisco's Mission District. 931 Treat is a 1400 square-foot facility where we are now set up for etching, photogravure, silkscreen, and letterpress.

2012 saw the publication of Sandow Birk's Monument to the Constitution, (pictured above, in progress), a major direct gravure etching in nine panels on handmade Japanese paper.

Workshops and exhibitions will be coming soon.

Weds Salon Night

Some shots from the first Salon Night. A Maile Lei was sent from Hawaii by my good friends Audrey and Hide in Makawao.

PNCA student and Native Hawaiian Seanavin Egdamin was on hand with his fiancee Sande Keli`inoi who chanted a traditional Pule for a blessing of the studio.

Abigael Tripp and Alex Wilson read poetry while the yakuza film Onimasa played on the wall above, Heather McLaughlin showed drawings. Patrick Cruzan, who will be showing photos next Weds, the 20th, was in attendance, shown here with myself and the lei.
